Your Child Knows the Basics. Now Give Them More Challenging Math.
For Grade 6 students who already understand the basics, this workbook provides more challenging practice in whole-number operations, mixed numbers, decimals, and percentages.
Many problems ask students to work backward to find a missing value – such as an addend, subtrahend, factor, or divisor – instead of calculating a result directly. Every chapter begins with a worked example before independent practice.
What Makes This Practice More Challenging?
The challenge goes beyond working with larger numbers. Students must also find missing values, reverse familiar operations, and solve problems involving mixed numbers, decimals, and percentages.
- Missing-number problems. Instead of calculating a result, students find the missing value. For example:
786,196 + □ = 907,667
becomes
907,667 − 786,196 = □
The same approach appears in multiplication and division, including decimal problems with a missing factor or divisor.
- Mixed-number operations. Students practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with mixed numbers that have unlike denominators.
- Percentage equations. Students find the unknown whole in problems such as 68% of X = 17.
Worked Example in Every Chapter
All 15 chapters follow the same three-step sequence:
EXAMPLE → PRACTICE → MASTER
1. EXAMPLE – See the method.
Each chapter begins with a worked example that explains the steps before the child attempts similar problems.
2. PRACTICE – Apply the method.
Five practice pages follow each worked example, giving the child an opportunity to apply the demonstrated method.
3. MASTER – Check the work and learn from mistakes.
The answer key includes the answers to every practice page, organized by page and problem number. Children can check their work, identify mistakes, and return to the worked example when they need to review the method.

What This Workbook Is – and Isn’t
This is a supplemental workbook for selected Grade 6 skills, not a complete Grade 6 mathematics curriculum.
It goes deeper, not wider, offering more challenging practice in the specific areas listed above for students already learning Grade 6 math in school or another program.
Is This the Right Workbook for Your Child?
This workbook may be a good fit if your child:
- Already understands the basics and is ready for more demanding practice
- Needs focused practice with large-number operations, mixed numbers, decimals, or percentages
- Benefits from seeing a worked example before tackling similar problems
- Needs structured supplemental math practice at home, during the school year, over the summer, or in a homeschool setting
