Understand the Steps, Strengthen Your Skills, Track Your Progress
By second grade, children are building the skills they’ll use for more advanced math.
Can your child add a two-digit number and a one-digit number when regrouping is needed?
Can they find a missing number in an addition or subtraction problem?
Can they use multiplication to find a missing multiplier?
And when fractions are introduced, can they recognize what a fraction looks like and match it to the correct picture?
These are the moments when a child might pause and say, “I don’t know how to start.”
And when a parent sits down to help, it isn’t always easy to remember exactly how each method works.
Daily Math Practice Grade 2 is designed for these moments.
Before starting practice, your child sees each method explained step by step.
This gives them a model to follow and gives you something to refer to.
Here’s how the workbook is set up.
How the Workbook Works
Step 1 – Learn the Method Step by Step
The workbook has four sections: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Fractions.
Each section begins with worked examples before the practice.
Each example focuses on one type of problem and shows the method step by step, including regrouping, finding missing numbers, and understanding fractions through visual examples.
Because the examples come before the practice in each section, your child can easily refer back to them whenever they need to review a method.
Step 2 – Build Skills Through Practice
The workbook provides 84 days of practice across the four sections.
Each practice page is one day’s work.
At the top of each page, your child will find the day number and topic, along with spaces to write the Date, Score, and Time.
The workbook also uses a timed-practice format, giving your child a simple way to record each practice session.
Step 3 – Check Every Answer
The Answer Key at the back of the book covers all 2,212 exercises, making it easy to check completed work.
The Answer Key gives final answers rather than worked solutions.
The step-by-step methods are in the worked examples at the beginning of each section.
What Your Child Will Practice
- Addition (Days 1-21): Add 2-digit and 1-digit numbers, find a missing addend, and add 2-digit numbers.
- Subtraction (Days 22-42): Subtract 2-digit and 1-digit numbers, find a missing subtrahend, and subtract 2-digit numbers.
- Multiplication (Days 43-63): Practice times tables 1 to 5, find a missing multiplier, and practice times tables 6 to 10.
- Fractions (Days 64-84): Coloring pie charts to represent fractions and selecting the picture that matches a given fraction.
Several sections include missing-number problems.
Instead of simply calculating an answer, your child is sometimes given part of the problem and has to work out the number that belongs in the missing space.
What This Workbook Is – and Isn’t
This is a practice workbook, not a full curriculum.
It focuses on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and fractions, with worked examples opening each section.
It does not include topics outside these four areas.
Who This Workbook May Be a Good Fit For
- Parents who want a structured daily routine for a Grade 2 learner, with practice organized across 84 days.
- Children who find it easier to get started when they can see a method worked out first.
- Learners who could use more practice with addition, subtraction, multiplication facts, or basic fractions.
- Homeschooling parents, tutors, and teachers looking for focused math practice already organized by day and topic.
4 Ways to Make Daily Math Practice More Engaging
These are extra ideas you can try at home. They are not activities included in the workbook.
- Beat Your Own Score. After checking one page, your child can compare their score with the score from an earlier practice day.
- Parent and Child Challenge. Work on the same page together. Your child uses the workbook while you use scrap paper. Then check both sets of answers with the Answer Key.
- Math Challenge With Friends. Take turns solving problems. One child solves a problem while another checks it with the Answer Key, then switch roles.
- Choose Your Own Challenge. Your child can choose a topic from any of the four sections and use its worked examples as a starting point.
