Follow the Examples, Put Skills into Practice, Review Every Answer
By fourth grade, math problems are getting longer and involve more steps.
Can your child add three or four large numbers without losing track of the carries?
Can they work out a missing number in a subtraction problem when the answer is already given?
Can they divide a three-digit number by a divisor such as 12 or 15 – or figure out which divisor is missing?
These are the moments when a child might pause and say, “I don’t know how to start.”
And when a parent sits down to help, it isn’t always easy to remember exactly how each method works.
Daily Math Practice Grade 4 is designed for moments like these.
Before starting practice, your child sees each method worked out step by step. This gives them a model to follow and gives you something to refer to.
Here’s how the workbook is set up.
How the Workbook Works
Step 1 – Learn the Method Step by Step
The workbook is divided into six sections: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, and Decimals.
Each section opens with worked examples before the first day of practice.
Each example focuses on one type of problem and solves it in numbered steps, showing the calculations along the way.
The examples also show the written methods, including carrying in addition and multiplication, regrouping in subtraction, and the steps involved in long division.
Since the examples come before the practice in each section, your child can easily find them again whenever they need to review a method.
Step 2 – Build Skills Through Practice
After the examples, each section includes 16 days of practice, for 96 days total.
Each practice page is one day’s work.
At the top of each page, your child will find the day number and topic, along with spaces to write the Date, Score, and Time.
Step 3 – Check Every Answer
The Answer Key at the back of the book covers all 2,560 exercises, making it easy to check completed work.
The Answer Key gives final answers rather than worked solutions. The step-by-step methods are in the worked examples at the beginning of each section.
What Your Child Will Practice
- Addition (Days 1–16): Adding three or four 3-digit numbers, and three or four 4-digit numbers.
- Subtraction (Days 17–32): Finding a missing subtrahend or missing minuend in subtraction problems involving 2-digit numbers subtracted from 3-digit numbers, and 3-digit numbers subtracted from 4-digit numbers.
- Multiplication (Days 33–48): Multiply 3- and 4-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers, multiply 2-digit numbers, and multiply 3-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers.
- Division (Days 49–64): Dividing 3-digit numbers by divisors from 1 to 20, including problems with a missing divisor, and dividing 4-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers, also including missing-divisor problems.
- Fractions (Days 65–80): Adding proper and improper fractions with unlike denominators, and subtracting proper and improper fractions with like denominators.
- Decimals (Days 81–96): Adding and subtracting decimals with one or two decimal places.
Two sections include problems that ask your child to work backward to find a missing number: Subtraction and Division.
Instead of being given every number in the problem, your child has to figure out what belongs in the empty space.
What This Workbook Is – and Isn’t
This is a practice workbook, not a full curriculum.
It focuses on computation in the six areas listed above, with worked examples opening each section.
It does not include word problems or topics outside these six areas.
Who This Workbook May Be a Good Fit For
- Parents who want a steady daily routine for a Grade 4 learner, with one page per day across 96 days.
- Children who find it easier to get started when they can see a worked-out method first.
- Learners who could use more practice with multi-digit addition and subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, or decimals.
- Homeschooling parents, tutors, and teachers looking for computation practice already organized by day and topic.
4 Fun Ways to Use Daily Math Practice Grade 4 Workbook
These are extra ideas you can try at home. They are not activities included in the workbook.
- Beat Your Own Score. After checking one page, your child can compare their score with the score from an earlier practice day.
- Parent and Child Challenge. Work on the same page together. Your child uses the workbook while you use scrap paper. Then check both sets of answers with the Answer Key.
- Math Challenge With Friends. Take turns solving problems. One child solves a problem while another checks it with the Answer Key, then switch roles.
- Choose Your Own Challenge. Your child can choose a topic from any of the six sections and use its worked examples as a starting point.
