See the Method, Practice It Daily, Check Every Answer
By sixth grade, “Can my child add?” has become a different question.
Can they find the missing number in 97,464 + ☐ = 143,343?
Can they work a five-digit multiplication problem through to the last partial product without losing their place?
Can they subtract one mixed number from another when the second fraction is bigger than the first?
Those are the moments when a child stops and says, “I don’t know how to start.”
And when a parent sits down to help, it isn’t always easy to remember exactly how each method works.
Daily Math Practice Grade 6 is built around that moment.
Before the practice begins, your child sees the method worked out step by step. They have a model to follow, and you have something to point back to.
Here’s how the workbook is set up.
How the Workbook Works
Step 1 – Learn the Method Step by Step
The workbook is divided into six sections: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, and Decimals.
Each section opens with worked examples before the first practice day.
Every example takes one type of problem and solves it in numbered steps, showing the calculations along the way.
Because the examples come before the practice in each section, they’re easy to find again whenever your child needs to review a method.
Step 2 – Build Skills Through Practice
After the examples, come 16 days of practice in each section – 96 days in all.
Each practice page is one day’s work.
The header shows the day number and topic, with spaces to write in the Date, Score, and Time.
Step 3 – Check Every Answer
The Answer Key at the back of the book covers all 2,560 exercises, making it easy to check completed work.
The key gives final answers rather than worked solutions. The step-by-step methods are in the worked examples at the start of each section.
What Your Child Will Practice
- Addition (Days 1-16): Finding the missing addend in 5- and 6-digit addition, with the unknown number sometimes on top and sometimes on the bottom.
- Subtraction (Days 17-32): Finding the missing subtrahend or missing minuend in 5- and 6-digit subtraction.
- Multiplication (Days 33-48): Multi-digit multiplication, from 4-digit × 2-digit up to 5-digit × 3-digit numbers.
- Division (Days 49-64): Dividing 4- and 5-digit numbers by 2- and 3-digit divisors.
- Fractions (Days 65-80): Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing mixed numbers.
- Decimals (Days 81-96): Missing-number problems with decimals, including missing addends and subtrahends with thousandths, and missing factors and divisors with tenths.
One feature connects three of these sections: Addition, Subtraction, and Decimals include missing-number problems. Instead of simply calculating an answer, your child is given the result and has to work out the missing number.
What This Workbook Is – and Isn’t
It’s a practice workbook, not a full curriculum.
It focuses on computation in the six areas listed above, with worked examples opening each section.
It doesn’t include word problems or topics outside those six areas.
Who This Workbook May Be a Good Fit For
- Parents who want a steady daily routine for a Grade 6 learner, with one page per day across 96 days
- Children who find it easier to start when they can see a worked-out method first
- Learners who could use more practice with missing-number problems, multi-digit multiplication, or long division
- Homeschooling parents, tutors, or teachers looking for computation practice already organized by day and topic
4 Fun Ways to Use Daily Math Practice Grade 6 Workbook
These are optional ideas you can try at home. They are not games included in the book.
- Beat Your Own Score. After checking one page, your child can compare their score with the score from an earlier practice day.
- Parent & Child Challenge. Work on the same page together – your child uses the workbook, and you use scrap paper. Then check both sets of answers with the Answer Key.
- Math Challenge With Friends. Take turns solving problems. One child works out an answer while another checks it with the Answer Key, then switch roles.
- Pick Your Challenge. Your child can choose a skill to practice from any of the six sections, using the worked examples as a starting point.
